Cutline
Checking AI

The original's loop

  1. Set a goal weight and a weekly pace; it sets a calorie goal.
  2. Log food by searching a big database or scanning a barcode.
  3. See calories and macros remaining for the day.
  4. Log your weight and watch the line.

What it does well

  • A huge food database, including Australian supermarket brands.
  • Barcode scanning turns a packet into a log entry.
  • Meals split the day, so you can see where calories went.
  • Streaks and reminders make logging a habit.

Gaps for Lazar

  • Every item is search, pick, then adjust grams. A breakfast takes a minute.
  • Ads, and barcode scanning plus several macro tools sit behind Premium.
  • Raw daily weight. A salty dinner reads like a setback.
  • Gym days and rest days get the same target.
  • No straight answer to "am I on track for my date?"

What Cutline does

  • Type the meal in one line, check the rows it reads, save.
  • No ads, no paywall. Data stays on this device.
  • A smoothed trend line, its weekly rate and a projected goal date.
  • Training days get more carbs; the weekly total stays the same.
  • A Sunday check-in with one practical next step.

Cutline is Lazar's personal tool. It is not affiliated with MyFitnessPal and uses none of its data, design or branding. No barcode scanner yet: use Quick add with the numbers from the label.

Trend

How the trend is worked outShow

Daily weight moves 0.5 to 2 kg with water, salt, carbs and timing, so each raw weigh-in is a dot, not a verdict. The line is an exponential moving average: trend = trend + α × (weight − trend) with α = 0.25, the standard weight for a 7-day span (2 ÷ (7 + 1)). Each new weigh-in moves the line a quarter of the way toward it. If you skip days, the gap counts: α becomes 1 − 0.75^days.

The weekly rate is the straight-line slope of the trend over the last 14 days. The projected date divides the kilograms left by that rate. It appears after 7 weigh-ins, because fewer than that mostly measures water.
